Former Westlife singer Shane Filan talks about his childhood obsession with Michael Jackson and reveals why a visit to Elvis Presley’s home, Graceland, gave him fresh inspiration for his solo career. The Irish singer and songwriter was one of the lead singers of Irish boy band Westlife until the group disbanded.
Shane Filan remembers his school years and how his parents were concerned about his obsession with Michael Jackson. They even got called up to school once, after Shane was wearing a hat and copying Jackson’s moves. Filan remembers: “I was about 10 years old, 11 years old, and my parents were called in because I was talking about Michael Jackson too much to all the other kids, so they actually were called up and had a meeting with the principal about it because I was litelally thinking I ws Michael Jackson”.
